Porterisms

We love Porter.  He is such a smart, inquisitive, energetic boy.  He knows what he wants and is working on his patience until he gets what he wants.  But, he's also learning that you don't always get what you want.  This is a hard lesson, but sometimes he amazes me when there is no full fledged tantrum and he can move on. This doesn't always happen, but sometimes it does.  I am always so proud when it does and it's as if he is really listening to me and allowing me to reason with him.

He remembers everything and will talk about past events or things coming up.
At church he loves to lead the music, take the sacrament and then the talks get a little long for him.  He is usually heard saying "nursery" about 20 times before sacrament meeting is over.   In nursery he loves singing time and of course snack time, particularly marshmallows.

During nursery today he knew exactly what would come next after each activity.  He would be the first one up ready to move on to the next thing.  It was a riot.  He hurriedly cleaned up the toys when it was time for singing time.  Then he went into the room, put his mat on the floor and sat and waited for everyone else to come in.  Then when they were singing the goodbye song that ends singing time he was up putting his mat away and heading into the next room for snacks. He even got into the snack box and pulled out the marshmallows.  Fortunately I contained his excitement and he sat with his hands clasped while he waited for the nursery leaders to bring the snacks around.  This is how he sits when you tell him to be patient.

He really is growing up.  At night when he falls asleep I just look at his sweet face and tell him I love him.  I am lucky to be his mom.  I think of the ways I can teach him and protect him.  I hope I am doing a good job.  He has an amazing dad that loves him so much.  He is a lucky kiddo.
