Mason David Bailly has arrived! (12/16/16 B-day)

Although I would have loved for baby boy #3 to come naturally, I realized that the possibility of him not coming on his due date was very real.  After my experience with Jonas coming 1 week late, I was hoping not to repeat.  So, when my OB and I discussed things, I asked if she'd be willing to induce me on my due date if I hadn't delivered before then.  She was happy to oblige and scheduled my induction for Friday, December 16th at 7:30am.  The end of pregnancy was fairly uneventful although I did actually experience contractions prior to being in labor, so I had a few thoughts that I was in labor, but no such luck.

The morning of the 16th I called at 6:30am to make sure the Labor & Delivery unit had a bed and a nurse for me.  I was in luck, so my 7:30am appt stood.  David and I dropped the boy's off at a friend's house and headed to the U of U hospital.  Our great friend, Adrianne, was the charge nurse on labor and delivery the previous night and was getting off shift.  She assigned us to a great nurse, Brooke.  We chatted with her when we got there and then got situated in our room.  Pitocin was started about 9:30 am.  I was about 4+ cm dilated and 80% effaced starting out, so I was in a great position for induction.  We decided to start my epidural about 11:30am so then there was time for it to do it's work before they broke my water.  Dr. Abby Watson, my OB, stopped by prior to going into her surgical case to check in and let me know they would brake my water after her case so that she would be around to deliver me.

They broke my water about 12:40pm.  The babies head was low and I was 6cm dilated and still about 80% effaced.  As soon as my water broke things changed.  The baby started having decels and they put oxygen on me.  I immediately felt more pressure and the need to push.  Brooke, then nurse checked me and I was dilated to 7cm, then a couple minutes later when I continued to tell her there was more pressure and I was progressing, she checked me again and I was 8cm.  I was also starting to get nauseous and shaky.  I knew go time was almost here.  A resident came in and checked me again and I was now complete.  I was ready to push.  Everyone was telling me to stall so Dr. Watson could get in the room.  The ER resident seemed to be moving in slow motion to get his gown on and I just wanted to push.  Then Dr. Watson came in and it was time! I pushed with contractions and it seemed like he was not coming out.  I was wondering what was taking so long.  Everyone told me I was pushing so well and he was almost there.  Well, he was stuck....  I didn't completely realize what was going on, but David informed me afterwards.  He had shoulder dystocia and then his other arm was bent out and making it even harder for him to get out.  His head was out and the cord was wrapped around his neck.  There were a lot of people standing around encouraging me as I pushed and they called an internal code just to have more staff available.  Fortunately after there was much pushing, pulling and tugging, Mason David Bailly entered this world completely at 1:08pm!  His first apgar was 7 and the second was 8.  There were no problems from the slight shoulder dystocia and I got to hold my sweet baby boy.  He cried and I knew he was okay.

I asked David what would have happened if they couldn't get him out.  I was worried it would have been a c-section, but he said, his head was out, they just would have given me a large episiotomy.  I am so thankful he came out because I didn't have to get an episiotomy and I didn't even have to get any stitches.  I had very minor tearing and Dr. Watson thought it would heal better on it's on.

We are so blessed that things went well, no post partum hemorrhage and Mason is a dream.  He is so sweet and has slept so much.  I have given him lots of snuggles and the boys love him too.

He weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz and 20.5 in long. He has lighter hair and when he cries, his lower lip looks just like Jonas.  Other than that, Mason is his own little boy.  He looks different than both Porter and Jonas.

Both the boys have been up here twice to meet him and so I could give them love.  They were little tornadoes in here blowing around, but so cute with Mason wanting to hold him and telling him they love him.  David and I are so blessed to have 3 boys to call ours.

Naming him took some time.  We knew his middle name would be David, but we mulled over a couple of different names.  His official name was not confirmed until over 24 hours after he was born and a poll of some friends and loved ones.  The other top contender was Jordan David, but I thought it was too close to Jonas.  So, Mason it is.  The funny thing is, Mason is a name David had brought up when Porter was born that I vetoed at that time.

More to come about our sweet baby.

Nurse Brooke and Dr. Watson, I was in great hands.

 Always the proud dada.

Primary Program (10/9/16)

My first primary program is completed!  I must admit I much rather would enjoy just sitting and watching it rather than having to worry about all the logistics, but it was still beautiful.  The children did incredible with their speaking parts and singing with their hearts.  This is truly one of my favorite Sundays.

At the end of the program the closing hymn was, "Teach Me to Walk In the Light".  I loved that we sang this while looking at a stage full of primary children.  It was as if they were asking us to do this.

Camping (11/15/16)

Because David is the best dad ever, he wanted to take Porter camping one last time before it got too cold.  So Porter was thrilled when David came home army and asked him if he wanted to go camping.  They packed up and headed out.  Jonas was so sad because he knew he was missing out.  Jonas cane with me to the RS activity and when we got home David and Porter were in the backyard making a fire.  Jonas was now thrilled.  Those boys roasted marshmallows and slept in the tent.  If you want to see pure joy, it was these two boys tonight.  I loved to see it.  The gratitude and love was overflowing from all of them.  What a special thing for them to get to do with their dad.  I am beyond grateful for David and the father he is.

Jonas unfortunately didn't make it all night.  He almost didn't make it long at all because David said he was out of control wild, but he got a second chance and got to stay.  Sometime in the middle of the night David brought him in because he's kind of crazy sleeper.  There is a lot of rocking and rolling going on.  But, at least he got to spend the fun part with the boys.  The best thing was when David sent me a video of the boys singing "Praise to the Man".  Precious.

Clean up after a fun night.

Update (12/4/16)

I am so far behind documenting and it's only going to get worse once the baby comes.  So in an attempt to kind of update things, here are a few pictures from this month.

Porter said the people at the gym did not care what he wore, so he showed up in pj's with church socks.

Story time at the library.  I love taking the boys here.  They have so much fun and it something to get us out of the house.

Me 38 weeks!  What?!  Last week I seriously thought I was going into labor and I kind of panicked.  I was not prepared.  No bag packed, no plans for who would come watch the kids, no baby name picked out....  With both boys, I did not have contractions until I was in labor, but I was definitely having contractions that lasted a few hours.  They weren't painful, but definitely things are getting ready.

Dad and his boys.  Bedtime story time.

35+ weeks pregnant (11/13/16)

Thought I better document the growing bump.  It's been awhile and I only have a month left.  Life is going to drastically change again.  3 kids 3 and under... at least for two months.
