President's Day

We went on a hike through City Creek.  The trail started out like this...

The trail forked and we took the path less traveled.  Aren't we warned not to do this?  Well, the trail ended up looking like this...

These pictures actually don't completely do it justice because at points the trail was muddy and slushy.  I didn't take any pictures then just in case I needed to attempt a save.  It really wouldn't have been that big of a deal, except David had Porter on his back, so if he went down so did Porter.  Fortunately David stayed "upright".  It was a beautiful hike and Porter had no idea that he could have landed in the creek at any moment.

We always laugh at the fact that we "save" Porter's life multiple times a day and he is completely unaware.  Kind if like how our Father in Heaven is continuously saving our lives without our knowledge.

Power outage

Today at 3:30pm the power went out.  I realized that I wasn't prepared.  Or, at least that's what I thought.  A kind neighbor lent me a lantern and flashlight. Then I talked to David and he reminded me that we have 72 hour kits. Then I remembered we had headlamps in our room and a flashlight in the car.  Really, this was no emergency, but I was reminded of how important it is to heed the counsel of the prophets and get ourselves prepared.  For that moment when I thought I wasn't, there was a little panic and this wasn't even anything scary, so I can't imagine how I would feel if we were on a major disaster.

Porter could careless that the lights are out and he is playing in a pretty dark room.

Working out

We are starting Porter at a young age to make fitness a part if his life.  So far he loves it.

Off to work

Porter likes to walk David to the elevator when he heads to work in the morning.
