Happy Boy

Bathtime

Someone is getting too big for his "bathtub".  David laughs at me that I use this pink basin to bathe Porter, but I don't want to buy anything else since we are moving and I think the kitchen sink is too dirty.  But, pretty soon Porter won't fit in this basin anymore and I'm going to have to upgrade him to either the bathroom or kitchen sink.  I better get used to giving that kitchen sink a good scrub.

Just a little more sleep please.

Last Saturday night, we went to a birthday party for our friend, Dave Pratt.  After staying up way too late for a breastfeeding mama, I wanted to squeeze just a little bit more sleep out of the little man before I woke up on Sunday.  So, when he started crying Sunday morning, I let him lie on my chest where we both slept another hour.  I got extra sleep and we got to snuggle, which is the best.  David snapped this picture of us in the act.

117th Boston Marathon and Expo

The Boston Marathon is a big deal here and the expo the weekend before is huge. David had to work, so Porter and I met up with Peggy to go downtown to the Hynes Convention Center to enjoy the pre-marathon festivities and get lots of free samples.  Peggy and I had fun, Porter slept through almost all of it!

First ride on the Subway.

At the Boston Expo.

The finish line.

Porter crossing the finish line.  Hopefully we can show this someday when he runs across the finish line.

At the Marathon. Watching with friends the Anderson's, Jones' and Kyle's.

The Elite Men.

Shalane Flanagan.  We sat next to her mom at the Olympic Trials in Eugene when she won 1st in the 10,000 meters.

Kara Goucher.

David enjoying the race.  Porter sleeping through the race.
We enjoyed the race and had fun cheering friends on.  Around 2:15pm when all of our friends, but one had passed by where we were watching out in front of our apartment in Coolidge Corner, we decided to head back inside because it was freezing and I needed to de-thaw.  A little after 3pm I received a phone call from my mom asking if we were alright.  This was the first I heard about the explosions at the finish line.  I was shocked.  I had heard several sirens, but living within a mile from multiple hospitals makes you somewhat immune to sirens.  Over the next several hours we watched the news as more information came forth about the victims.  Our heart goes out to those that have been injured either physically and/or emotionally by this selfish and hateful act.  As I thought about the evil that surrounds us and those that are Satan's army, I was reminded that there is still so much good in this world.  I was holding my sweet baby that is so pure and innocent and I held him just a little tighter.  I thanked Heavenly Father for the safety of my little family and for the reminder that He is in control.  Acts such as this can cause us to go through life in fear, but that is not Heavenly Father's will.  He wants us to move forward with faith, trusting Him.

More pics

Porter has a sleep sac kind of like his Mimi's!
This boy gives the best smiles.

Showing us how strong he is.

Porter's first Easter egg hunt.  Too bad he slept through most of it.

Porter thinking, "I'm a big boy now.  Mom is finally putting me in clothes besides pjs."

Getting some chub.

Dad hated my mullet so he had mom cut it off.  He called me Friar Tuck.  This is the before shot.

David uses Porter's bum as a book stand.

Porter and our friend Caleb at Amory Park.

Cousin Morgan sent Porter his first love note.

Two months old today!  At his two month appt he weighed 11 lbs, 2 oz and was 23.2in long.  He is getting so big!

Just because we never get pictures together.

Oral vaccine at 2 month appt.  Video above of his shots.  He did so good!
Our friends the Silverstein's had a little (big) baby, Jacob.

Porter and Jacob.  Looking at this makes me realize Porter is still small.
