Solids (4/30/17)
We have introduced Mason to solids or I should just say food. He started the weekend of Easter and has tried bananas (1st food), mashed potatoes (with butter and sour cream- David let him go big on Easter), avocados and pears. He seems somewhat interested, but I'll admit this time around I just feed him when I think about it. Poor third child.
Toddler Bed (4/29/17)
today we turned Jonas' crib into a toddler bed. Not sure why I waited so long to do it since he's being climbing out for awhile. We had friends over this am so I didn't put him down for s nap, but around 2:30 or 3 he walked right into his bed and went to sleep. It was so cute. And he talks about his toddler bed. Now the question is, where do we move Mason? He is outgrowing his bassinet. I thought he'd go into the crib, but he might go straight to the pack n play.

Mason's blessing (3/5/17)
Mason's blessing was beautiful. My parents, David's parents, Ashley, Randall, the Boothe's and Tu's were all able to be there.
His blessing:
Our kind and gracious Heavenly Father, by the power of the Holy Melchezidek priesthood, which we hold. We take this infant baby boy in our arms and present him to give him a name and a blessing. And the name which he shall be known is Mason David Bailly. Mason you have brought our family much joy and much peace. And you bring with you the sweet spirit that all infants bring to remind us of both innocence and tremendous courage to come into this world at this time to show us the faith of our forefathers and to give us hope that all will be well. Mason you have been prayed here by ancestors who have gone before you and by your parents here now and you are loved by all of them. You are particularly loved by your brothers. Let them be an example to you of righteousness and courage. And let you be an example to them of your great faith and humility. Mason you have been blessed with spiritual gifts that you carried with you for the eternities before you came here. May your quest in life be to find them, to use them to bless the lives of those around you. You have the ability to heal and to listen and to bring peace to the broken-hearted. This is a much needed gift in this day and age. Satan will wrestle constantly against the peace you will bring. May the power of the priesthood keep you safe. May the ordinances of the temple be yours, those of the endowment, of marriage, and eternal family. May the blessings of the administering of angels that is part of the Aaronic priesthood be manifest in your life. Mason always remember that you are loved and this love is powerful. That it is real and that it matters. And that the words that you speak will be recorded and be a beacon of hope. These blessings and all other blessings that your Father in Heaven knows that you need, He knows you well and He has blessed and will bless with them through the power of His son, Jesus Christ. We leave upon you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Porter's First Primary Talk (2/19/17)
Porter gave his first primary talk. He was so excited. We talked about it earlier in the week and wrote it out together. He picked the stories he wanted to tell and we added a scripture. The best part was, when we were working on the scripture helping him memorize it little did we know that he already knew the scripture by memory. David and I were both in shock. He said he had learned it from the Nephi movie. When he gave his talk, he did not like one scripture that I added in. And he kept putting up his hand to make me stop saying it. I thought he was getting embarrassed because then he ducked down behind the podium. Other than that he did a great job.
His talk:
Today I am going to talk about how we are blessed when we choose the right. Nephi is a great example of someone who was blessed for choosing the right. He was commanded to return to Jerusalem to get the brass plates from Laban. His brothers Laman and Lemuel complained and thought it was to hard, but Nephi chose the right and did not complain.
His dad, Lehi, told him in 1 Nephi 3:6, "thou shalt be favored of the Lord because thou hast not murmured." In 1 Nephi 3:7 it reads, "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them."
Nephi was protected hen he was obedient. When I choose the right, I feel good. One time my little brother said something mean to me and I chose the right by not saying something mean back. I was blessed and my mom was proud of me.
I know Heavenly Father blesses us when we choose the right. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
The best part of when he gave his talk is that he had most of it memorized. He didn't say it verbatim, but he knew where things went and he delivered the message he prepared. When it got to the part where he told the story about him and Jonas, he decided to say the mean thing Jonas said rather than just say he said a mean thing. He said, "Jonas told me to shut up....". It was kind of funny.
The week before that he gave the scripture in primary for a kid that was not there. And when I went to go help him read it he put his hand up and said, ". I got this mama." What did he have? He did not know the scripture and he can't read yet. It was pretty funny though.
We are proud of Porter. He is growing up and I love how much he enjoys reading the scriptures and learning the stories in the scriptures. I know the spirit is teaching him.

Joy and Love (2/5/17)
Lately I have been feeling so much joy and love for my family. This week I took the boys to storytime at the library and watching them listen and interact and get involved overwhelms me with joy. I love this age that they are in. And that I get to spend so much time with them every day. Their personalities are so big and so individual. I also loved getting to snuggle and hold Mason. It's amazing how much you can love someone so much that has only been a part of your life for such a short time. He smiles in response to me and has started cooing. He is getting so big. He is definitely my biggest baby so far. Both Porter and Jonas love him to pieces.
Porter is in Primary now. He loves Primary. He sits at the front with the Sunbeams and raises his hand constantly to answer a question or ask a question or tell them something he knows. Today I was conducting in Primary and we had the wrong information for who was giving the scripture. So, I asked Porter if he would give it. He proudly walked up and sat on the front chair waiting his turn. When it was his turn he walked to the mic and when I went to help him he said, "I got this." I had to tell him, no you don't have this. You don't know the scripture that we are supposed to be reading and he doesn't know how to read yet. It was pretty funny though. I love that he is not scared at all and eager to do it.
Ashley was teaching a lesson on joy this Sunday in her ward and she had me read her lesson notes yesterday. I got to read a lot of scriptures that talked about joy and I was reminded that we are put here on earth to have joy and that is what God wants for each of us. And the way to Joy is through our Savior. When I feel the spirit I feel love. Today during sacrament meeting there were a few references to joy that comes because of our Savior. I feel like it was a reminder to me again of this.

Hawaii- Mason's First Trip (1/19/17-1/25/17)
David had a critical care conference in Honolulu, HI this month. Months before the conference David asked me to come with him. He has never been to Hawaii, and I'd been there a few times. But, since we knew Mason would only be a few weeks old, we figured it would be a great trip for us to get away with baby Mason. So, we booked our tickets. If this had been my first child, I would probably have not been super excited about traveling with a 5 week old baby, but third times a charm I guess. Mason has been the best baby and the transition to motherhood with 3 has been far better than I ever expected. Porter is older and more mature, Jonas is a pretty easy going kid even though he is opinionated, he is much easier than Porter at this same age.
We flew Melissa out to watch the boys while we were gone and she had Jackson come along. My boys LOVE older boys that will play rough, but they especially love Jackson and he is soooo good with them. He is fun, kind and patient. I knew the boys were in great hands, so I wasn't so worried when I left.
Our first night in Hawaii we spent time relaxing and walking along the beach. The sunsets were beautiful and slowing down was nice. We tried out a new restaurant. The food was good.

Getting his laie before dinner.
We had a great trip and enjoyed some warmer weather while Utah was being dumped on with snow. We missed our boys and were glad to get back and snuggle them. I had been so worried about how Jonas would do, but he did fantastic. I was so grateful for Melissa's willingness to watch the boys and taking such great care of them.

Mason's first flight. He was practically perfect. Both to and from Hawaii he slept basically the entire time and only cried briefly when he wanted to be fed. We could have not asked for a better travel companion. David and I joke that he's living large since his first travel experience was to Hawaii. Hopefully we didn't set his expectations too high. On our flight out there we ran into one of David's co-workers and his wife. The wife loves babies and she actually took Mason for part of the flight to San Diego. Then in San Diego we were waiting at the wrong terminal and by the time we realized we were at the wrong gate, we had to run through 2 terminals to get to the right gate and barely made our flight. Thank goodness we squeezed in at the last minute. We flew Hawaiian Airlines and they were so friendly.
Mason's first trip to the beach in Honolulu. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It was a great place to stay.
I had to take a picture of the hula dancer to send to Porter.
Beautiful sunset for our first night in Hawaii.
We did not plan our vacation very well since David had his conference and we didn't know exactly what his schedule would be like. So, our first full day there was a Saturday. We wanted to go the Polynesian Cultural Center and luckily we were able to get tickets last minute. And of course we ended up upgrading so we had a tour guide, the buffet Luau dinner and front row seats at the show at the end, "Ha"- The Breath of Life. I love the Polynesian Cultural Center and knew David would enjoy it too. We didn't need the guided tour, but the rest of it was fabulous. We even took the tram ride over to BYU- Hawaii and the Laie Temple so David could see both of those sites. We enjoyed our day, the food and the entertainment. Once again, Mason was a gem. I was a little worried about how he'd do during the show at the end since it was late at night, but he was soo good. The only drawback of the whole day was I got car sick on the bus ride home and ended up throwing up about a gallon of grossness. The upside, if you could say there is one, was that we had gotten ponchos at the Polynesian Cultural Center because it was raining and I was able to use that to catch my throw up. Disgusting since I had to hold it the rest of the trip, but it was contained.
Picture above: David during the Fiji performance up on stage since he had a January birthday. He got to practice some dance moves and learn some new ones.
Parade of Floats.
Laie Temple
Getting his laie before dinner.
Just chilling.
The view from our hotel.
A couple of mornings I would sit at the pool for an hour or so before we headed out for the day. This was my view. It was a little chilly most days, so I never even put on a swimsuit. But, being 5 weeks out from having a baby, I was okay not getting in a swimsuit.
On Sunday we went to church and that evening headed to a Boston Children's Hospital Reunion get together. It was fun to see so many people from the Boston days. It was amazing how many people were there. I had a great time talking with Meredith Vanderbelt. We mainly chatted about motherhood.
One day we decided to rent a car and drive around the island. We got sucked into the Dole Plantation trap on our way to the North Shore. We took the train ride around the plantation. This entire stop could have been passed and we wouldn't have missed a thing.
One of the best parts of going to a conference is running into friends from David's training years. Merrick Lopez, Jerry Williams and Dr. Tinney from Loma Linda Residency.
The garlic shrimp from Giovanni's came highly recommended. It was good.
One day I spent a couple hours at the pool reading and relaxing while Mason napped. It was great. I enjoyed the quiet time and getting to read. That doesn't happen much at home.
David took a morning and went to Pearl Harbor. I opted to stay back and sleep. I decided I should not go home more tired than when I got to Hawaii. I've been to Pearl Harbor twice before, so I let David go and enjoy it by himself and go at his own pace. He really enjoyed it. I'm glad he was able to go.
David and I decided to hike Diamond Head. The view was spectacular and the hike was not challenging.
This is another photo from the Dole Plantation. Mason just snuggled in and enjoyed the ride.
And even though we were hiking, Mason needed a break to eat.

January 2017
Too tired, lazy to blog at night, but I have to get back to it. Otherwise I'll forget all the details and stories.
Mason smiles. I feel like he's been doing it since he was born, but definitely in the last week or so. (1/29/17)
Jonas took naps in Porter's bed while we were in Hawaii. Now tonight (12/30/17) he slept in Porter's bed overnight. He's getting ready for a big boy bed. He will actually read in his room until he goes to bed with minimal escaping:).
There has been so much snow and I actually love it! It's so beautiful and fun to watch the boys play.

Sometimes you are just worn out and bed is the best place to be. When Porter is tired, he is all of a sudden so cold and needs to be snuggled up under a blanket. And I guess in this case, needed to have a hat on too.
Happy 41st Birthday David! We had a low key dinner at home. For dessert I made a scrumptious chocolate, peanut butter cheesecake. It really was so good and you can tell that some little boy that it was pretty yummy too.
When David and I went to Hawaii, Jackson and Melissa came to stay with the boys. Of course, the boys were in heaven. Jackson is so fun and Melissa knew how to handle the boys. Everyone had fun. It was great to know the boys were in great hands.

Porter is "helping" clear the walkway.
Uh oh! Both boys now like to watch stuff on the phone or play games. Fortunately there isn't much they can get to without us.
David and the boys decided to make homemade Rootbeer. So much fun!
Love. I love that my boys love each other.

Look at that Dumb and Dumber haircut on Jonas. Good thing his face is so cute.
Grandma and Grandpa Bailly came to visit and to meet baby Mason for the first time. We got to go to their hotel to swim.
Porter has been known to put his underwear on backwards. It does not look comfortable, but he doesn't seem to mind.
Eating donuts in the hotel bed.
Porter putting his clothes on all the wrong body parts.
I love how peaceful a sleeping baby looks.
Smooshed nosed Jonas. So cute.
Out for a walk with the boys. Porter has been getting so good on his bike. I can't believe he already rides without pedals. Way to go buddy!
Mimi came to visit and meet Mason! Prayers were answered and Porter bonded with Mimi and not once said anything mean to her! Yeah.
Ashley and Mimi took the boys to a Lego exhibit at the Leonardo Museum. It was crazy busy they said, but everyone still had fun.
Newborns make me exhausted. But I still love all the snuggles.
Gayle brought all this candy over for the boys to decorate a cake. Oh my gosh was it A LOT of candy. This was the final product. How appetizing does that look?
Gayle took this cute boy to Chick Fil A and they got a lemonade shake.
For Mason's first outing when he turned 30 days, we took the boys to Jump Around Utah with Mimi and Ash. It was a blast.
Taking a snack break.
And just like that Mason is 1 month old!
Story time at the library. Testing out his new googles for the activity.

Both boys sometimes knock out in the car. Fortunately, Jonas will transfer to his bed. Unfortunately, Porter generally does not anymore. But, at least he still gets a little nap.
Sleepy smiles.
Both Porter and Jonas adore baby Mason. Can you blame them? Even though Porter still says he wants a baby sister, at least he loves Mason and will play with him and make him laugh.
