Friends (10/10/16)

Today for Adrianne's birthday a group of us went out for lunch.  It was so great to be surrounded by friends and just enjoy each others company.  I have missed socializing with just the girls.  How grateful I am for friends.

Big Brother (10/10/16)

Today we went to the aquarium.  I was so proud of Porter.  He generally always finds kids to play with, but a lot had just left, so he came to me saying there was no one to play with.  I told him to ask Jonas to play.  So he turned to Jonas and said, "Jonas, will you play with me?" Then off they went.  They ran around the play place and Porter helped Jonas get up to the really high parts.  He would lift him up and bring him along.  They had so much fun together.  Porter also watched out for him.  It made my heart smile.  I love those boys.

Lifting Jonas up to the next level.

More lifting to the top.

Watching the Penguins.

We had a great day today. We were all in good spirits and the boys were fabulous. It felt so good to just enjoy each other without people getting in trouble, being getting frustrated and yelling.

Songs (10/9/16)

Tonight while singing to the boys at bedtime I loved listening to Jonas pipe in with words to songs.  I was actually amazed at what he knows.  He knows parts of "High on the Mountain Top", "Teach Me to Walk in the Light, "I'm a Child of God" and "I Stand All Amazed".  I hope he always loves these songs.

Misc (10/4/16)

Story time at the library. I love that Jonas is big enough to go sit up front by Porter.

Playing at the park before swimming lessons.

Darth Vader

Conference Weekend (10/1-10/2)

Conference weekend was great.  It always is.  Sometime I'll write about my favorite talks.

At Gayle's during the priesthood session while David went to the conference center with Gaylan.

Little toad from Mario Cart.

Racing.

For FHE we had a lesson on letting our head control our body for good.  David put a helmet with a rope attached on the kid's heads to show them that their bodies will follow their heads.  Then the boys stared longingly at their treat until David said they could eat it.

Devil's Rock Hike (9/30/16)

Even though we'd already went on an am hike, we headed up Little Cottonwood after dinner to meet up with some people from David's program to hike Devil's Rock.  The drive was beautiful.  It's definitely fall. The leaves are changing and the air was crisp.  We obviously didn't make it far on the hike, but it was good to be out and the boys loved climbing on big rock. Jonas actually just used his feet to walk up it while he laid back basically horizontal to the ground and David or I held his upper body.  Porter on the other hand is becoming a good little climber.

Bike ride before the hike.

Hike and Play date (9/30/16)

On a hike with Alli and kids up Millcreek Canyon.

Then Max came over and these two boys played so well. Porter wanted to work in "consperiments" and projects, while Max just wanted to drive.  So every once in awhile Max would pull up to see if Porter needed a ride.  So cute!

FHE- The Train Shoppe (10/3/16)

For FHE we checked out a new place.  I thought we were just going to a place that sold model trains, but we were in for a surprise.  Behind the shop is a place for kids with model trains set up, Wild West rides and games and even a little train for the kids to ride.  You buy tokens and play.  It was super cute.  The kids and David and I were all entertained for the 45 min we were there.

"Giddy up horsey", Jonas.

When your brother bandages you up... (10/8/16)

Jonas fell today and Porter took extra care to bandage him up nicely.   Then he added a few bandaids to himself.

Fall (10/7/16)

Today was a beautiful, perfect fall day.  We spent a lot of time outside.  We went to the zoo, played outside at home and went to Smash Night at Beacon Heights Elementary.
All of us were refreshed by all the fresh air.

"On my tummy."  Then next time he said, "On my bum bum."

Waiting for the fireman to drop the pumpkins.

Picking up smashed pumpkins and then throwing the pieces down.

So excited to touch a snake.

Jonas had to get in on the action too.

Porter loved seeing all the reptiles that the Tails and Scales guy brought.

Swimming Champ (10/6/16)

Porter started swim lessons again at Fairmont.  There are 4 other kids in his class and today was class #2.  He is getting so brave.  He continually puts his head under water and actually looks like he's starting to swim. I love to watch him feel more confident and kick around and laugh and play.  He has so much fun.  They are teaching him to float on his back and today he worked on a front float.  I'm excited for him to learn to swim, but a little nervous to not have him in a life jacket.

Jonas and I splash our feet in the water, he walks around the pool and today we sat and played while we watched Porter.

My boys (10/5/16)

I don't write enough about my bis and I don't want to miss them at this age.  They really are so enjoyable, funny, smart and they still love David and I and want to be with us.

Jonas-
Talks ALL the time. We went to the grocery store today and he remembered that last week when we went he got a cookie.  He never gets a cookie at the grocery store.  He said, "I want a cookie."  Good memory little man.  He knows most of the ABC song.  Can count to at least 12.  Sings: "I Am a Child of God", " Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "We'll Bring the Workd His Truth".  He loves music and dancing.  I had turned off a CD tonight and he said, " Turn it on."  He has a sense of humor and loves to tease.  His smile and smiling eyes still melt our hearts.  He loves Porter and will say, " Where Porter go?" If he can't find him.  He is good at cleaning up if you ask him to and he'll sing, "Clean-up, Clean-up".  He will let people babysit him now and may cry for two seconds when I leave and then settles down. He loves playing outside, swinging, hanging, climbing and jumping.  He wants to do things by hi elf. He can kind of put on his crocs by himself.  He will run away from me... That's always fun. He still loves balls and is pretty good and kicking and throwing.
There is something about him that makes you just want to squeeze him and kiss him.
When he's tired he'll say, "Tired" and walk to his room ready to hop in bed, then he goes rockin and Rollin to fall asleep.  He still loves to have his muslin blanket to sleep with.  His "blankie".  Fortunately he's not attached to any specific one, just that type of blanket.
When we read scriptures in the morning he wants his own little Book of Mormon.  He folds his arms to pray if you remind him and sometimes he kneels down so good to.  I'm so glad he is ours.  I love him.
Dressed up as Darth Vader.

Porter is still whip smart.  He has really started this imaginative, creative play.  I love to ease drop when he plays Legos by himself during quiet time.  There is quite a lot going on in that brain of his.
I love listening to him sing and learn and laugh.  He loves Jonas enough though he doesn't always admit it.  He calls Jonas his squishy baby.  He'll ask Jobas to give him a hug.  And if I get mad at him, he'll ask me to give him a hug and tell him sorry.  His heart is still so tender.  We love to read together and he is always up for any project or helping with anything.  If I'm cooking or baking, he's right there and wants to be testing out any batter involved.  I have been watching him grow up so big both physically, emotionally and spiritually.  He loves to read, listen to stories or watch videos from the scriptures.  I'm grateful for his love of the scriptures.  He's also learning about how God hears his prayers and will answer him.  Just tonight he prayed because his bottom was hurting.  A little while later he said it wasn't hurting anymore and he prayed to thank God for healing him.  Jonas during this kept saying, "Porter's bottom hurts, why?"
I need to write more about these boys. They are growing up too fast.  I want to freeze them at this age where they still love to cuddle, get hugs, read books, tell me all about what's going on, etc, etc.
