The chefs

Our neighbor Connor came over for a play date and these two boys cooked for me.  I got soup, grilled cheese, pizza and juice.  Porter knows all the right ingredients to add as he cooks.

Grocery shopping date

Porter and I had a fun date to the grocery store.  I let him pick out a donut. His selection was a donut with "worms".  He was so helpful and cute.

(If I ask him to smile, this is generally what I get.)

Desolation Trail (10/17/15)

We decided to head out for a hike while the weather is still nice.  And we were so glad we did. We went up Millcreek Canyon and hiked part of Desolation Trail.  Porter ran/hiked/explored the entire time.  He was so excited to hike the mountain and literally jabbered the whole time.  I had a few panic attacks invisioning him running and tripping.  David reminded me that his center of gravity is low, so he wouldn't fall that far, but still.  At some points the trail wasn't very wide.  It was so fun to be there and listen to that sweet boy as he loved every minute of the hike.  He'd say, "I'm running up the mountain!"  He didn't want to turn back when it was time.  But on the way back down he "hid" from David.  This entailed him walking with his eyes closed, holding my hand.  I guess he really trusts me!
Jonas also had a blast.  He just cooed and giggled in David's ear.
It was a wonderful morning with our sweet family.  The leaves have started to change colors and it was just beautiful.

Downtown Meet-up

Ash was bringing a friend up to Salt Lake so we got to meet up with her and play for a bit. We got to see the newly renovated Church History Museum and kid's play area.

Jonas' first time playing at Dinosaur Land.

 Porter auditioning for General Conference.

He loved sitting on the boat and watching the video of Jesus calming the sea.

Riding the camel.

His first attempt at stairs.  Nice and cushiony, the perfect place to test them out.

Brotherly love (10/15/14)

It started out with Porter on top, but Jonas is quickly learning to stand his ground.  I keep telling Porter he better watch out.

This tackling is only the beginning, and I'm still in the phase of breaking it up before Jonas gets smothered.

This kid (10/14/15)

He had to test out the 12 month old Hallowwen costume.

Porter helping himself to fruit snacks.  Hiding things higher is not turning out to be a good solution.

Stairs

Jonas started tackling the stairs yesterday and today he made it all the way up.  I missed it, but David said Porter was so proud of him.

Random update pics

10/7/15-

At the hospital for Jonas hip x-Ray.  Porter wanted to see the super heroes.

Check out his "I got your nose" gesture.  Porter used to do this when he was really young and it was so funny.  I just noticed Jonas doing it too.

10/9/15-

Play date at the park.

Learning to ride his balance bike.

10/10/15- movie night.  Actually I think he watched the tv show, Jake the Pirate.

10/11/15-  Porter has been falling asleep late for his nap because he plays so hard.  And literally can't go to sleep until he is so incredibly exhausted.  Then he crashes, I can't wake him up and he sleeps too late so he can't fall asleep at night.  Vicious cycle.  Jonas and I play in the room to try and get him to wake up.

10/12/15-
Cuteness.  Jonas is finally getting another tooth, this time in top.  He continues to be in the move and now if I turn away to work on something, he can disappear quick and I have to look for him.  David thinks he's going to be a quiet, riot.

And Porter continues his antics.  Here he put q-tips in his ears and said, "I'm a dog with ears."  Then he put s q-tip coming off his nose and said, "I'm a rhinoceos."  The one coming out of his mouth and said, " I'm an elephant."

He keeps us laughing and keeps us amazed.  He can recite a few articles of faith word for word.  Loves to sing "High on the Mountain Top".  Can count items up to at least 10.

We love being parents to these boys.  Life is better because they are part of it.

Legos

Porter loves playing with Legos.  At nap time and bed time he is often found playing Legos.  Tonight he came up to our room to show us that he built a temple.  He said, "I built a temple.  I worked so hard."

It's pretty good if you ask me.

I love you

Porter often says "I love you" very emphatically while pointing his finger at us.  So, we do it back.  One time he told David, "Say it with your hands dada."

I need a video of exactly how he does it because it's hilarious and precious all at once.

The Piano Guys

Porter saw the CD of the piano guys and he asked if he could watch the DVD of them singing Let It Go.  I said sure.  We put it in and I danced around (really made me want to take dance classes).  I went upstairs to do something on the computer and when I came back out, Porter was knocked out.  Maybe this is a new way to get him to sleep easily!

Porter had friends over for a play date.

Tanner and Kenna Mitchell

Jonas has started to growl.  It's pretty funny, especially coming from his sweet face.

Testimony

Tonight our FHE lesson was on testimonies.  David and I both bore our testimony and helped Porter bear one.  Then we watched a few bible videos.  Porter loves these videos.  I am grateful for another way to teach him.

Here he's watching the parable of the sower.

Conference Weekend

It rained a lot the beginning of the weekend and then today was beautiful.  Fall is finally here and it feels great to enjoy the crisp weather.

Friday before everyone got here and there was a break in the rain, we headed outside.

Notice Porter's "football look" with the dark lines under his eyes.

Keara and Ashley came up for the weekend.  It is so nice to have extra hands, especially because David didn't feel well.

I love conference and I love that I can go back and watch/read and re-read all the conference talks when I get a quiet moment by myself.  Watching with a baby and a toddler is a little distracting.  But, we do it and I hope something sinks in and their spirits are touched.

I loved the talk by Elder Holland about mothers.  It reminded me of my responsibility and the influence I can and do have in the lives of these precious souls entrusted to my care.

I also noticed a few talks spoke on the sacrament prayer, the promises we make and the promise made to us.  We promise to always remember our Savior.  How can I do this?

And we are challenged to ponderize the scriptures so that our thoughts are up lifted and filled with higher thoughts.

There were a few questions on had on my heart while I prepared for conference and some of them were answered.

As a wife, speak up, be an equal partner.
As a mother, take moments to teach.  Don't complain.
On how to love others, see them as someone child.

The work station.  Unfortunately Porter was not planted here working quietly the whole time, but it served as a pit stop between his busyness.  And it was a great place for Jonas to work on pulling himself up and standing.

Mesmerized by the children's choir during the Saturday afternoon session.

The boys all playing trucks.

And our walks to get out the wiggles.

9 months old (10/1/15)

And just like that we have a 9 month old.

H: 27.75" (26%)
W: 17 lb, 11.8 oz (18%)
HC: 43.7 cm (15%)

We love Jonas.  He is "crawling" aka butt scooting wherever he wants to go.  He uses his hands and one leg to scoot.  And like Porter, he's quick.  He pulls up on stuff and stands, he is finally rolling consistently, he has his two bottom teeth so he enjoys being able to eat what we are eating.  He will sit and play by himself as long as the big boy in the house doesn't bother him.  He has a low growl. He pulls him self up and much prefers sitting and standing the lying down.  When he goes to bed he either shakes his head from side to side or rolls over on his side and grabs his little blankie.  He is extremely ticklish and loves when you tickle him. He knows his name.  His skin is much more sensitive than Porter's.  He doesn't get diaper rashes like Porter, but he gets little eczema type patches.
