Joys of Toddler Life

I turned around to unload the dishwasher, and during that time Porter moved his coloring from the paper to the table.

He continues to "use" the toilet and since David was helping, I finally got a picture.

I know he looks like he's about to fall in.  I just pulled out the toddler toilet insert, so next time:).

Bikes, Bikes, BIKES!!!

This is often frantically chanted at our house.  Porter is obsessed with bikes.  Tonight we stopped by REI and Porter went a little bike crazy.  Of all the bikes, he was most drawn to this one:

Early nap time

Since Porter continues to be an early riser and has dropped his morning nap, if we are in the car around 10 am he will undoubtably fall asleep.  Unfortunately this means he will not always remain sleeping and will likely be cranky the rest of the day and will fall asleep late afternoon or early evening if he gets in the car or the stroller.  This means I don't get a nap:(.

Camping trip

David packed up this evening for a camping trip with Porter up Millcreek Canyon.  They left around 6pm because a friend had stopped by.  It was a later start then initially planned.

At a little after 8pm David walked back through the door with a sleeping Porter.  Next time they'll have to leave earlier.  They did enjoy a little hike and some father/son bonding.

Before camping.

Me 27 weeks pregnant.

How soon is too soon?

The past few days Porter has wanted to sit on the toilet and pretend to pee.  He wants his diaper off, he pushes his penis into the toilet and then needs toilet paper to dab himself when he's finished.

Today he actually stood next to the toilet and using the straw string in his shorts he aimed it into the toilet to "pee".  Hilarious.

Maybe he'll be potty trained by the time baby #2 comes along.  I'm not expecting that, but wouldn't that be a pleasant surprise:).

Over the sickies, mostly

Porter is better!  No more quarantine but just a few lingering spots and some peeling feet.  We are so glad he is better. Life is more fun.

Enhancing the swinging experience.

I think little girls just cook in the kitchen.  Porter uses it as a ladder to get to higher objects:).

We love meals outside when the weather is nice.

We had the whole park to ourselves for almost 45 min. Porter had his pick of trucks.  I guess that's what happens when you get out early.

This is what shopping with Porter looks like now... I am trying to teach him that shopping trips don't always end with new toys.  What a fun lesson:).

A snail sighting must end with the snail in your hand.

This kid no longer wants to eat in his high chair or drink from a sippy with a lid.  He is definitely exerting some independence.

Out playing ball and at the park on a beautiful day.

Porter watched a 4 year old jump off the jungle gym and thinks he can too.  Luckily he will obey when I tell him he has to jump to me.  It's just a little too high for 1 1/2 year old.

The sickies again

Monday Porter started out with a slight fever, being a little cranky and with a few spots I thought were mosquito bites.  We still managed a fun trip to the zoo.

Monday night was a disaster.  He was up for two hours overnight and I laid in bed with him the rest of the night.  He was fitful and crying on and off the remainder of the night.  I was naive to think those pesky mosquito bites were keeping him up!  By morning he had red bumps all over his feet and bottom.  He cried when he tried to walk on his feet after waking up and then wobbled around all day.

We quarantined ourselves... At least we didn't play with friends or go to public places where kids play.  Luckily Gayle still came to visit Tueday and Wednesday and we took walks and played outside together.  Fresh air is still a must!

The rash spread up his legs, on his hands and up his arms.  Then he started getting it around his mouth.  We determined he has a bad case of the no good Hand, foot and mouth virus.  Fortunately he has no sores in his mouth, so he still drinks milk and eats food, at least a little.  Tueday night we did a 1 am drive for some medicine and then he slept like a baby.  Before bed Wednesday we gave it to him again and he slept all night until 7:00am. That is sleeping in for this kiddo.

He can still have fun!

Today he wanted to "go", but he said no to a walk around our neighborhood.  We took a little drive and ended up at part of the Bonneville Trail and decided to explore.  Unfortunately his little feet can only do so much walking right now, so I did a lot of carrying, but it was worth it.  He was happy, I was happy, it was beautiful and he saw dogs. A perfect morning.  Those dumb sickies can't keep us down!

Pool dates, mowing and handsomeness

I watched our friends girl Emma Jane a couple days last week. She is adorable and her and Porter are two fair skinned, blue-eyed blondes.  And she will tell Porter "no".  So funny!

Gayle came to play on a short work day.

Ilena sent Porter a new baby animal book that he loves.

David tested out a new mowing method. He may never be able to mow without Porter again.  Porter felt pretty cool to be involved in the action and wanted  "more" when it was all over.

Dad got Porter dressed for church and he was so excited to show me how handsome he looked.  This was the first time he really cared what he was wearing.

24 1/2 weeks pregnant.  Getting big:).  Sometimes the side shot makes me feel a little better about how huge I am feeling.  I'm pretty sure I must carry some part of the baby in my butt and boobs.

Labor Day

Today we labored:). David helped someone move.  I painted a dresser for the nursery and we continued unpacking, organizing and cleaning.  But of course we played some too. We went on a walk, stopped by a friends for ice cream and cookies and ran into our neighbor Cuma who spoiled us with raspberries, home grown tomatoes and a your of her house.    Then to top off the night, Porter and David had their first camp out.  Porter was beyond excited.  He was speaking rapid jibberish and giggling.  We'll see how the night goes.  They are testing it out in the yard.
