Daddy-Son Day
I worked today so Porter and David got to hang out all day together. They played hard and worked hard. Since I don't leave Porter very often for hours at a time, it always makes me a little emotional.
After work we met up with friends for dinner, then we met up with other friends to play at the park.
As I was sitting in bed tonight I felt the baby kicking. It's not the first time this pregnancy, but it is always so exciting to feel that little life inside of you. And, to think that this little person is only about 5 inches long can exert such force that David and I can both feel them. Love it! We are already calling the baby a girl, so I guess we'll find out next week if we 're right. David is so adamant that she is that I have found myself talking about her too:).

Lately...
We've been busy. Porter's preoccupation with bikes has increased and he can regularly need founding signing and saying "bikes". David takes him down to the parking garage to check out the bikes and ride around. I picked up a little 4 wheeler trike for him that I hope will tide him over until we can find a bike.
In preparation for Pioneer Day we went to the Youth parade and also previewed the floats for the big parade today. Porter loved the dinosaur float. Can you see his look over wonder?!

Rubbing off
I may be impacting Porter in some negative ways...
He has a sweet tooth just like me
I also wash my feet in the sink or bath tub at the end of the day or when my feet feel dirty. Porter has learned how to get up on the counter, turn on the water and "wash" his feet... Sometimes he takes it a bit further and gets all the way in the sink. And to multi task he might brush his teeth.
Unlike his mom, he loves to make messes. Playing with petroleum jelly is always fun. He will glob it all over himself and if I am lucky I will catch him when it has only gotten that far. Otherwise we'll find it smeared along the mirror and whatever else his little hands can get to.
Also unlike his mom, more like his dad, he has started to fight sleeping. This is a sad, sad time. He used to go to sleep so easily, now he will cry and scream. He gets out of in his bed, so I have found him once he finally falls asleep up on the queen bed in his room. I don't blame him, it is way more comfortable.

Sick
The past day and a half Porter has been sick. It is so sad because he is so incredibly active and to watch him slow down and sometimes lay down shows how incredibly bad he feels. David says he is just acting like a normal boy.
When he first got sick it came on suddenly and he was really pathetic.

"Follow my nose"
I never buy sugary cereal because I tend to eat it like candy, but I couldn't help myself yesterday. There was a great sale on Fruit Loops. This morning I decided to have a bowl. My plan was not to give it to Porter for breakfast. Well, these marketers are doing something right by making the cereal bright and inviting because as soon as Porter saw it he was up in the chair next to me asking for some. So I have in and he got his very own bowl.
Someone was happy.

Treats
The other night our neighbor gave Porter a Popsicle. We had to leave before he finished it so he could get ready for bed. I told him we would save it for the next day. Screaming, I mean blood curdling screaming, and hitting ensued. You would think the world was ending.
Here he is enjoying it the next day.
Ignored
We are in the process of buying a home, so while I am making phone calls to arrange inspections and get quotes on work to be done Porter is busy too. Porter being ignored is the equivalent of a tornado blowing through my house.

Escape Artist
Porter has learned to escape from his pack and play. This is not good news. He used to be so good at going to bed and those days of bragging about his great sleep habits might be over. Usual bedtime: 7pm. Bedtime tonight after multiple escapes from his bed: 9pm. So I am eating chocolate pudding to help soothe my sadness. I had to ask him to show me how he did it, so here is proof that my bragging days are over.

Hikes and Homes
This past weekend we enjoyed a nice hike up by Memorial Park.
Porter also transitioned to a forward facing car seat. How is this little boy of mine growing up so fast?
We also got an accepted offer on a house in Salt Lake. 2441 E Wilson Ave.
It has been crazy since then. We definitely compromised on some things to stay close to the hospital, but the house has been kept well. The work inside is quality work. The yard is beautiful and the street is a quiet street with other young kids. David's commute will be about 10 min and the kicker is that the house comes almost fully furnished:). Crazy huh?! We don't have to pay for the furniture, the seller's are just leaving it. We've had some reservations going forward just making sure this is the right house. We know it's a good house, definitely the nicest we've seen, it's just a huge commitment and all the money we have saved to put 20% down will soon be gone from our bank accounts. Yikes!
So, the closing is July 30th if all goes as planned...so stay tuned to see if we are homeowner's again.
