Near tragedy

Porter climbs higher and higher every day and is always surprising me by what he climbs on next.  Today he used the storage bin by the cabinet in our kitchen to climb up on the cabinet.  I caught him as he was climbing back down, scissors in hand.  Help me now!  I literally can't leave the room for a minute.  Nothing is safe or off limits.

Here are a few snapshots of him playing while I shopped.

He is becoming more and more interested in actual toys.

Today he said "duck" for the first time.  It's always fun to see what he'll say next. I mean, we talk about ducks all the time here, so naturally he would say that.  (Insert sarcasm)

Jammin'

Porter loves music and will dance and bob his head whenever it comes on.  As soon as it stops he asks for more.  Tonight they had karaoke at the resort.  He loved it!  There was one singer in particular that was good and Porter was mesmerized.  He even got a little serenade.

Happy Father's Day!

Ocean Day

In the am the men, minus my motion sick plagued dad, and a few if the boys went deep sea fishing.  They had a blast and caught fish for dinner.  They even caught two barracudas, but they had to throw them back.

My dad, the women and the rest if the kids hit the beach.  It was overcast and perfect weather to enjoy being outside and playing at the beach.  The water was warm and a little choppy, but no one seemed to mind.

Porter loved the water, jumping in the waves with David, swinging, going down the slide and playing in the sand.  He never gets bored.

He was happy to find the swing.

This is what happens when you throw a tantrum face first in to the sand.

Energy

I only have Porter and he exhausts me!  He is constantly on the go.  Today it was chilly and overcast, but we swam, played at the playground and played in the sand.

We also celebrated James' 12th birthday!

Porter has also learned a few new signs... Bird, red and blue.

Gator hunting

We went to Everglades National Park in Ft. Lauderdale.  It was actually pretty fun.  We spotted a 5-6 ft alligator, some vultures enjoying a meal of turtle, and these birds that are the cousins of chickens.  Porter loved when the airboat went fast and as soon as we'd slow down, he'd sign "more".  That kid loves an adventure.

After the air boat ride we watched an alligator show with the guys from the tv show Alligator Rescue.  Porter got to pet a baby alligator.  The first thing he did was "hold" it's claw, then he proceeded to grab its belly:).  Porter was lucky that the alligators mouth was taped shut!

This vest lasted about 30 sec before Porter screamed and it came off.

This little guy has no fear.

Tape fun

Today we spent a lot of time inside getting ready for our trip, so we had to get creative to keep Porter entertained.  We pulled out the tape....

And every time we tried a new way if putting on the tape, Porter had to check himself out in the mirror.

Nose picker

Porter thinks it's hilarious to stick his finger up his nose.  We were both laughing so hard when he was doing it.  I know I shouldn't encourage it, but when it's so deliberate it's funny.  That little guy knows he can make me laugh.  Even when I am mad, he knows if he just gives me a few minutes and does something funny I'll break down and laugh.

I could never catch him exactly in the act.  But isn't he such a big boy!

Happy 16 month Birthday Bubba!

We met friends to play at the splash park at City Creek Mall and then headed to the Liberty Park for more fun.

He is a fun boy.  He never stops going.  He is curious, stubborn, silly, determined, sweet, naughty, mischievous, a bookworm, a boy through and through.  He can throw the nastiest tantrum and then curl up with you and read books.  He is learning how to give the best hugs, but you have to ask for them and he has to be in the mood.  He only gives David a kiss if he wants something from him.  He loves music and looking through truck books.  But his favorite book might be the Gospel Art Book.  He loves singing:
I Love to See the Temple
A Child's Prayer
Latter-day Prophets
Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam
I Hope They Call Me on a Mission
Jesus Said Love Everyone
Give Said the Little Stream
And my made up songs

Porter verbally says:
Ma ma
Da da
Ba ba
Bike
backpack
Egg
Bath
Ash

Signs:
Bike
Milk
Thank you
Please
Sorry
Red
Baby
More
Song

He runs, climbs, walks backwards, turns in circles, stomps, jumps, "prances", dances, bobs his head to music, claps for sports.

He keeps us on our toes and we love him!

Shower time

David had to work today, so I manned Porter while getting ready for church... That is always fun.

While taking my shower, Porter must have thought I needed more things to entertain myself, so I ended up with the following items:
3 books ( a construction book, a book on trucks and Teachings of Presidents of the Church)
Big blocks and a rolling base
A ball
The toilet bowl scrubber
And just in case I needed something to clean my ears, 1 q-tip.

When he thought I was good with things to entertain myself, he then played in the toilet.  Awesome.

So much for a relaxing shower:).
