This past week has been incredibly historical and saddening. After the bombing at the marathon on Monday, it was definitely a bit nerve wracking to know that there was a person/people loose that were capable of such hateful acts against innocent people.
Well, things got a lot more interesting and scary overnight Thursday. I found out about the MIT officer being killed and the manhunt for the bombing suspects Friday early morning, around 2am, when I was up feeding Porter. (I have started reading the news on my phone during the nighttime feeds to pass the time.)
Around 5am when I was up again, I checked the news to see if there were anymore updates and by this time it was known that one suspect was dead and the other one was on the loose. The city of Watertown was on lockdown. We live just a few miles from the area and I shop at the Target right by all the action.
David went into work around 7am and literally just a little bit after he went into work the hospital was on lockdown. He ended up getting stuck at work until about 2pm when he was finally able to leave the hospital by showing his hospital badge. I was so glad to have him home.
Porter and I spent the whole day at home. Luckily we have a courtyard at our building, so we were able to go outside for a bit and get some fresh air.
Around 6pm the lockdown order was lifted and within the next hour to two hours the suspect was apprehended. I am so grateful for all the police officers and other individuals that spent HOURS working to find the suspect. I know their families must have been extremely worried and praying for their safety.
Here are a few photos David captured around Harvard square.
