In case you didn't know...

we're moving to Salt Lake City, UT this summer.  David signed a contract at Primary Children's Medical Center in the Cardiac ICU.  We are super excited about the job.  I never thought I would be back living in Utah, but the job was the best overall fit for our family and David's academic pursuits.

David's future boss, Dr.Madolin Witte, sent Porter the following welcome gift along with two books.  We are excited to have David work with such a thoughtful person.  It has reaffirmed our decision to go to Utah.  Not sure Porter is sold on being a Ute yet.  He might be a BYU fan like his mom.

1 Month Outing

Yesterday Porter and I took a walk to the library since it was such a beautiful day.  We wanted to go out for ice cream that night to celebrate Porter's 1 month birthday, but David ended up getting home from the hospital really late because he had to resuscitate a patient.  We'll have to celebrate next week.  But, Porter did get some Dad snuggle time when David got home.

Bundled up for the library.  He is one happy camper in his oversized winter suit.

1 month check-up

This morning was Porter's one month check-up and of course, another winter storm! This kid loves the snow and David and I are both sure that he wants to ski. I guess it's a good thing that we are moving to SLC so he'll have some of the best skiing available.
Here are his one month stats:
Weight: 7lbs, 11oz
Length: 21 inches
Head Circumference: 37.5 cm

I can't believe he is that big. Although, he is still only in the 6th percentile for weight.

Bundled up for his 1 month check-up.  (Thanks Ilena for the beautiful hat!)
Leaving the parking garage, heading to the Dr.

Advanced

All parents say it.  My child is so advanced.  He is so smart.  But really, Porter is.  He looks wise beyond his 3 weeks of life.  And, on top of that, he can hold up his head.  The first time Porter was placed on my chest, he lifted his head.  It blew David and I away.  He has continued to impress us with this skill and has become stronger and stronger.  The other day he was sitting in front of David on the table, holding up his head.  Then again yesterday, he was lying on David's chest, pushed himself up with his little arms and held his head up while turning it from side to side.  He must have held it up for like 30 seconds.  It was adorable and I swear he turned to face me when he heard my voice.  Below is some proof, although the lighting is horrible and I can't get the video from my cell phone to work on the computer so I'll post it when I can.
