Sugar Daze

On Saturday we went to a Holiday Open House at the Red Butte Gardens.  Porter sucked away at a candy cane while we browsed the boutique.  It was my idea for him to try the candy cane, but then I nervously watched him like a hawk.  David always assures me he knows how to help a choking child :).

First real winter snow of the season. (12/3)

Tis the Season

Yesterday we took Porter to see Santa at City Creek Mall. He immediately melted down with big crocodile tears when he sat on his lap.  I was dying laughing since he looked so adorable and Santa made no attempt to console him.  Santa looked realistic, but his jolly demeanor was lacking.  Unfortunately I have no photos since they are a rip off.  Maybe we'll visit Santa again at a different location.

Then we finally made it out to pick out our Christmas tree.  We are super festive... We headed to the local Home Depot.  I am just glad to have a tree and finish decorating.  I love this time of year!

Porter was thrilled :).

Trail of blood

While I was taking a shower, David brought Porter into the bathroom so he could leave for work.  I didn't do my normal review of the bathroom to make sure there was nothing out he could hurt himself on.  Well, sure enough it was really quiet, so I peaked out of the shower to find Porter with David's razor in his mouth.  It was quickly removed and he seemed fine.  When I got out of the shower I noticed a trail of blood...on the floor, the toilet, the toilet paper roll, etc.  Every place little Porter could reach.  At first I thought he must have cut his tongue, but after close inspection I found a cut on his thumb.  He is one tough little boy.  He wasn't crying or anything.  He was just playing.
So we cleaned him up and everything else.  He was extremely fascinated by the band aid.

Laughter is the best medicine

No matter what is happening, when Porter laughs, life is good.  It truly is the most magical sound.

(If you want to see a really clear video, I can email it to you.  For some reason when I upload to blogger the videos are not clear.)

Porter and Dad do the ABC's

Photo books are the perfect gift for any occasion.

I am only posting this in hopes that David will not check this blog out.  Generally he doesn't, so I think we'll be safe for the next few weeks :).

Do it myself

Porter likes to do things himself.  This morning he took the spoon from me to feed himself.  (Never mind that the spoon is adult size.  That doesn't stop him.)

Pure happiness

Porter loves to be outside and he loves to play, so combining the two is pure happiness.

Even though it's getting pretty cold, we ventured out to the park.  We need some fresh air everyday.  I guess we were the only ones with that idea because there was no one else at this usually busy park.

(Sorry if the video makes you a little motion sick.  It kind of makes me sick :).

Out

When Porter gets two good naps during the day, he actually goes to sleep earlier and sleeps better all night.  It's 6pm and he is out for the night.  David's working and I have hours to get stuff done before I go to bed.  Yeah!

Owies

Porter got his first owie that required a band-aid.  I'm sure it won't be the last.

Our beggar

Whenever Porter sees us eating, he wants whatever we have.  He will come and stand next to us with his little hands on our leg and his sweet face peering up.  This morning I had a snack in a cup.  It was on the table and Porter was trying to figure out how to get up there and get it.

And this is why we generally hide if we are eating and he isn't eating too:).

Playing Catchup- Picture explosion

I am so behind with blogging.  After moving and traveling for a month, there was so much to blog about just thinking about it overwhelmed me, so I did nothing.  Then I realized, I better just start before I get even further behind.  Plus, it's so fun to watch Porter grow and change and I want everyone else to get to see him too.
Conference weekend David's sister Kandy and her family came to town.  We visited Temple Square and went shopping at City Creek.
Porter and I went on a tour of BYU campus with my niece Keara.  David and I are trying to recruit her out her.  And I am prepping Porter to go there.  He already loves it.  Can't you tell by the look on his face?

One of his favorite places to wreak havoc.

Out for a walk.  We do this almost everyday.

Porter loves the pool and lucky for us there is an indoor pool at our condo that is almost never used.

We got a zoo pass and have gone several times.  Here's Porter and Aunt Ash enjoying the seals and sea lions.

Porter's first time driving.  He was happy for about 10 min.  I thought I had found the cure to our grocery shopping woes, but a couple weeks later I realized the solution is snacks the entire time.  He hates to be strapped in or confined unless we are outside... then he will tolerate it only if we are moving.
Our scary Halloween faces.

Porter loves his little pumpkin.

My sister Kari and her family came to town so we toured Temple Square.  Porter trying to escape past the roped off area.  More photos to come of the visit once I get them off our camera.

We stayed in Provo with our friends, the Ulicny's, and thought it was hilarious that our boys had the same pjs.

Porter had been throwing tantrums all morning, so I had to put myself in time out to cool down.  While I was in time out, he found the spices.

This boy figured out how to open the fridge and the freezer.

At the park by our house.  Love this view and the fall leaves.

Dad is so much more fun than mom.  He let's Porter sit on the counter and eat.

Middle of the curve

At Porter's 9 month appointment on 11/11 he continued to ride the middle of the growth curve.  He is 28in, 19lbs 2.7oz and his HC is 44.5cm.
To us he's perfect.

Happy 9 Months!

We took a stroll to Liberty Park to celebrate this little boys 9 month birthday.  He is such a special boy.  Everyone comments on how busy he is, how alert he is and that he makes the funniest facial expressions.  And these are all very accurate assessments.

Morning routine

Every morning when I take a shower, Porter goes through every drawer in the bathroom, stands at the tub and peaks in hoping that he'll get to take a bath, and today he discovered the toilet paper roll.  My sister in law said Porter doesn't have enough toys, but I beg to differ.  He has more "toys" than he can handle.  He is never bored and always is finding new things to explore.  Everything is a toy in his world.

Exhausted

When you wake up multiple times over night and then get up at 5:30am ready for the day, by 11am you are already on nap #2!  After our walk, I realized Porter had fallen asleep sometime during the last 10 min.  Unfortunately his naps only last about 30 minutes.

Angel Bear

Porter has started to grab his little stuffed animals and pull them around with him.  He loves them and kisses them (aka mauls them).  This morning David picked him up after his nap and he was standing in bed holding his little angel bear.  It was Porter's first gift given directly to Porter.  Our friend Peggy visited us at the hospital when he was born.

Love his angel face.

This boy screams and squeals all day long.  He is such a happy, busy boy.

Mother's Day

Year after year I have celebrated Mother's Day, but it has never been as wonderful as this year when I finally became a mother.  Porter has made me the luckiest person in the world to be his mom.  I could not ask for a sweeter, easier, more joyful baby.  And what makes it even better, he knows I am his mom.

Halloween 2013

Halloween was somewhat uneventful around here.  Porter and I went to the Stake Trunk or Treat the night before, but felt a little out of place since we weren't trunk or treating.  We just planned on meeting a friend and walking around with her and her little boy...but they ended up having to leave right after getting there.
Then on Halloween we planned on trick or treating with friends, but the whole family ended up getting sick.  So, instead we threw Porter in the bathtub and let him have at it.  He LOVES the bathtub and I am pretty sure that was way more fun for him.  He squealed and played and splashed.

Happy Halloween from Dr Bailly and Little Dr Bailly!

Our little Doctor in Training.

Being a doctor is exhausting.  He was wiped out.

Hard Work

Porter and I tagged along with David out to Hingham, MA on May 11th to "help" one of David's attendings with some yard work. David got Porter all dressed up and ready for work.

First time wearing shoes.

During our outing, it started raining. Part of the job was hauling off a bunch of weeds/brush to the local dump. David and Dr. Mancuso decided to drive the car down in the yard to pick it all up. It went down easily, but unfortunately did not come back up as easily. They got stuck. Porter and I watched from the kitchen windowseat as the SUV wheels spun and spun kicking up mud, but going no where. Porter and I said lots of prayers that they would finally get out. And they did. Unfortunately I don't know if the grass in that part of the yard will ever be the same. Oops!

Photo Test

David has been wishing, hoping and dreaming of a new camera for years. Then with the arrival of Porter, I finally jumped on board to get something new. In true David fashion, he's been researching cameras for several months and has a good friend in our ward that is well versed in the world of cameras, so they have spent hours talking and comparing different cameras. A couple of weeks ago the camera arrived, a Canon 6D . This past weekend we went out on a photo shoot of sorts so David could teach me some tricks since I know nothing about cameras besides how to point and shoot. It was a lot of fun and the pictures are so much better than our old camera. Although, it's going to take me a bit to figure it out and learn how to manage a camera and a baby.

Here are a few of the photos from our adventure to Hall's Pond and then downtown for dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown and a walk around Boston Common/Beacon Hill with friends.

I felt like I was getting my senior photos taken, so I had to strike a cheesy pose.

In front of the restaurant that makes the best sushi I've ever had.  Fugakyu.
